Bomy

Bomy is a common French, located in the department of the Pas-de-Calais and the area Nord-Pas-de-Calais.

Geography

History

The name of Bomy is related to a trève signed in 1537 between the envoys of François 1st and those of Charles Quint, in the old castle of which there remain only the foundations in the park of the current castle. This tréve was of short duration because the hostilities continuerent until the destruction of Thérouanne.

The current castle was built in 1755 by the marquis de Trazegnies and his wife Marie Ferdinande De Croÿ.

It was confiscated and sold with the revolution. It been used one moment as sugar refinery.

It was repurchased by the baron de Vilmarest in 1839.
