Bombyx of the ailante
The bombyx of the ailante or growing is a Lépidoptère pertaining to Saturniidae.

Distribution: India, Southeast Asia, introduced with the the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, North America.
- Scale of the male: from 56 to 67 Misters
- Period of flight: mainly from May to June.
- Habitat: any place where is Ailante.
- Plant-hosts: Ailanthus .
Chéron d' Incarville discovered the species in China but it was introduced in France by Felix Edouard Guerin-Méneville (1799-1874) in 1855 like the Saturnie of the oak of Japan ( Antheraea yamamai ) and the Silkworm Tussah ( A. pernyi ) in order to find a species able to replace the Silkworm reaches Pébrine then.
