A bolus is a medical term indicating a intravenous injection of an important amount of a therapeutic agent.
For example a bolus of Corticoid S (solumedrol=methylprednisolone) to treat a Maladie of Horton with ophthalmologic attack allows a fast and effective treatment of the ignition. It differs from a basic Traitement by oral Voie for the same disease without ophthalmologic disorders with lower amounts.
In veterinary medicine, a bolus is a tablet of big size managed with the animal by oral way using a gun.
