Bolsena is an Italian commune of the Province of Viterbe (VT) in the Latium.

Bolsena is located at approximately 30 km of the chief town of the province, at the edge of the Lac of Bolsena

July 24th Holy Christine, martyrdom. The day before is held Crowned it representation of the Mysteries of Holy Cristine: alive tables, known as Mysteries, are assembled to point out the sufferings of the holy child. The procession with the statue of holy Christine marks a halt in front of each representation. The costumes and the settings in scene are particularly neat and the distribution of the roles and the various figurations follow a tradition which remains of wire father.

the Christian tradition celebrates the Miracle Corporal, to Bolsena in 1263. A priest originating in Bohemian, during the celebration of the Eucharistie on the tomb of Holy Christine, would have had doubts about the Transsubstantiation. Blood, spouted out of the Host devoted, wet the liturgical corporal and linens. The Pape Urbain IV, which was in the city close to Orvieto, was informed of this event and sent the Giacomo bishop to control the situation, with the mission of bringing back with him the ensanglanté devoted linen which is always in the Cathédrale of Orvieto. In 1264 the pope promulga the bubble “ Transiturus ” which instituted the Festival of the Corpus Domini .
