Bolland

Bolland (in Walloon Bolan ) is a section of the common Belgian of Herve located in Walloon region in the Province of Liege.

It was a commune with whole share before the fusion of the communes of 1977.

The village, located in the Country of Herve, is crossed by the Bolland, covered on a small section to form the Wirhet Place where the old communal house is. Among the monument most important we count the castle of Bolland and the vault of Noblehaye.

The castle of Bolland

To three or four kilometers in the North-West of Herve, amounts the castle of Bolland, old field of the lords d' Eynatten, which passed to Lannoy with Julémont. The castle, with turrets of angle, is surrounded by a ditch. The place still had constructions of a convent of founded Récollets at the 16th century by Jean de Berlo and of Eynatten, lord de Bolland. To the same time, the family of Eynatten provides two governors to the fortress of Franchimont.

The vault of Noblehaye

Built at the XVIIe century, the vault contains a statue of the Virgin. She is dedicated to Notre Dame of the Virtues. The young girls come to bite in the grid to find a husband.
