Boleslav Ier of Bohemia

Boleslav Ier Cruel, the Czech: Boleslav I. Ukrutný ), duke of Bohemia of 935 with 972 or - (929 - 967)

Wire of Vratislav Ier, duke of Bohemian, Boleslav I had a son named Boleslaus II the Piles, and a named girl Dobrava/Dubravka. It also had two children, Mlada and Strachkvas (Christian).

The accession with the throne

Boleslav is known for the murder of his/her brother Saint Venceslas, duke of Bohemian, which gave access to him the throne. Venceslas was killed during a festival, the day of the birth of his son. He gave him the strange name of " Strachkvas" , which means " alarming a fête". Taken remorse or by calculation, Boleslav promised to devote his/her son to the religion and educated it to make a member of the clergy of it.

Reign

Boleslav accepts that the body of his/her Venceslas brother is brought back to Prague and is buried in the church which will become the Cathédrale Saint-Guy of Prague.

In the east, it takes part with its troops in the battle of the Lech, the August 10th 955, where the Hungarians were definitively pushed back. Boleslav benefits from their rout to occupy the Moravie, the Western Slovakia, the Silesia, and Croatia Blanche with Cracow.

Boleslav completes the construction of a modernized state, it inaugurates monetary striking and transforms into tax fixed out of money the contribution of the free inhabitants.

Mlada known as Marie, the oldest daughter of the sovereign went with a delegation to Rome and it is from this city that was founded with the Château of Prague close to St-Georges, the first convent of bénédictines on the Czech territory and whose Mlada becomes the first abbess. With this center the worship of holy Ludmila of Bohemia radiated. In 966, Boleslav Ier Marie her second daughter Dubravka with the duke Mieszko Ier, founder of the Polish State.
