Boleslas II the Bald person

Boleslas II the Bald person (in Polish Bolesław II Łysy ), also called Boleslas II Rogatka (in Polish Bolesław II Rogatka ), from the dynasty of the Piasts, was born between 1220 and 1225, and deceased the December 26th 1278. He is the oldest son of Henri II the Piles and of Anne, the girl of Ottokar Ier of Bohemia.

He was duke of Cracow (1241), duke of the south-west of the Large-Poland (1241 - 1247), duke of Silesia (1241 - 1248), duke of Legnica and Głogów (1248 - 1249/1251). In 1249, it lost Lubusz and he was but duke of Legnica nothing any more. From 1277, he became also the duke of Środa Śląska.

Of its marriage with Hedwige von Anhalt, it had three wire (Henri V the Large, Bolko Ier Severe the and Bernard Skilful the) and four girls.

Starting from 1247, it shared the capacity with his/her brother Henri III the White. In 1248, after the partition of the Low-Silesia, it preserved only Legnica and of Głogów. The following year, it yielded the area of Lubusz to the archbishop's palace of Magdeburg. In exchange, it obtained the support of the German in the conflict which opposed it to his/her brother Henri III the White. In 1251, it was forced to give up Głogów with his/her young brother Conrad.

Following a disagreement with the bishop Thomas of Wrocław, its position weakened with respect to the Church and he sought of the assistance near the German Aristocratie, which was worth to him a great loss of prestige near the Noble S Polish.
