The traditional bokmål or Norwegian (literally “language of the books” ─ to pronounce “boukmol”), heir to the Riksmål (or “language of the kingdom”, to pronounce “riksmol”), i.e. elaborate dano-Norwegian for the long period of Danish domination, is the first alternative of the Norwegian employed. It is a Scandinavian Langue coming from a Creole of the norrois and Danish royal.
The bokmål is used in the majority of the writings, including in the documents related to administration, with the entour of 90%, but is applied less to the oral examination.
The code Iso 639 of the bokmål is Nb .
