Boissy-the-river

Boissy-the-River is a common French, located in the department of the the Essonne and the area Île-de-France. Its inhabitants is called Buccussiens and Buccussiennes.

Geography

Situeée at the top of a hill, Boissy-the-River downwards owes its name only with the panoramic sight on the river: the Juine.

History

Saturday, February 3, 2007. Boissy the river knew an electric atmosphere. The mayor organized the first public meeting concerning the project of installation of a park of ten wind mill.

In the forest was traced a Chemin of cross, whose departure is near the old station of Bierville, now unused, and who leads to a monumental Calvaire with the Lieu-dit " The camp of the paix".

Personalities related to the commune

Marc Sangnier organized there many demonstrations in its field of Bierville located on the commune, and founded there the first Inn of French youth.
