Boissise-the-Bertrand

Boissise-the-Bertrand is a common French, located in the department of Seine-et-Marne and the area Île-de-France.

Its inhabitants is called the Boissisiens .

The commune of Boissise the Bertrand is located at the periphery of Melun, and belonged to the Communauté of agglomeration Melun Val of the Seine.

History of the commune

The oldest found historical trace with Boissise is a Menhir found in drinks Joys, called the “large shepherd” This menhir is actually on the territory of the commune of Green-Saint-Denis, close to the farm of the Large Oak. The first documents written as for them date from the 12th century. In 1135 of the monks come to build an oratory dedicated to aint Acire in the wood of Beaulieu, while in 1172 a judgment of the Parliament of Paris evokes the inhabitants of a place called “Busseis”, which means “boccus sedes”. Boissise belongs to the barons of Seine-Port, before passing to the hands of the Vaudetar family, which will preserve the parish until 1720.

With the Revolution (1789), the village counts 303 inhabitants, and preserves a stable population throughout the next century, with 314 inhabitants in 1870. The village is touched by the human losses of the Great War, and its population decrease slightly until the Second world war. The curve is reversed as from 1945, a population of townsmen gradually replacing the former farmers and vine growers. The city passes to 418 inhabitants in 1968, then to 571 in 1975. The growth of the population continues over the thirty last years, with 719 inhabitants into 1981,788 in 1989 and 895 with the census of 1999.

Since 1995, the mayor is Marie Claude Pignoux, re-elected in 2002.

Places and monuments

  • In the radioelectric center of Holy-Asia, in extreme cases with Seine-Port, is a group of pylons reaching 255 m in height, being used inter alia with the transmission as information bound for the Sous-marin S French.
