Boi-of-mamão
The boi-with-mamão is a folk demonstration of the State of Santa Catarina, with the Brésil. It finds its origin in the traditions of from the Azores plays turning around the Boeuf S. This tradition is found mainly on the Littoral of the State, area where from the Azores culture is still very present. The first proven trace of this tradition goes back to 1840, under the name of boi-with-pano .
It is mainly about a demonstration to the comic springs turning around a dramatic event , the death and the resurrection of an ox. It presents common elements with the Bumba-meu-boi of the Nordeste.
Participants
For its representation, the boi-with-mamão makes take part many volunteers to incarnate the various protagonists of the action, placed under disguises makes structures of wood or steel and fabric. Among the characters, one finds ox, the owner of ox, the doctor, the widow, etc
