Bohort (in English Bors) is the name of two characters of the Légende arthurienne: Bohort the father, king of Gaunes during the first part of the reign of Arthur and brother of the king Round of applause of Bénoïc and his/her Bohort son Essillié, one of best of the Knights of the Roundtable, since it is among the three to conclude his the search of the Graal.
Bohort, King de Gaunes
Brother of Round of applause, the king Bohort is thus the uncle of Lancelot of the Lake and Hector of the Ponds. From her union with Evaine, sister of the Queen Élaine (itself marries Round of applause), are born two wire, Bohort (the young person) and Lionel. Bohort and Ban make alliance with Arthur in its fight against eleven rebellious kings of Brittany - among which Lot of Orcanie, Urien and Caradoc - so that Arthur in its turn promises to them its assistance against their enemy Claudas, which prepares to invade their countries. However, Arthur is long in holding its promise, which makes it possible Claudas to make a success of its invasion. During this one two kings, Bohort and Ban, are killed while Lancelot, the son of Round of applause, is collected by the Dame of the Lake, and that the two wire of king Bohort are captured and raised in captivity at the court of Claudas.
Bohort says Essillié (exiled)
Oldest son of the precedent, they is most famous of both Bohort . He spends his youths with his brother Lionel to the court of the king Claudas. Both end up revolting against this last and even manage to kill his/her son, cruel Dorin. Before Claudas cannot be avenged, the two boys flee with the assistance of a servant of the Dame of the Lake at which they receive then an education in the knighthood at the same time as their Lancelot cousin. All three, become excellent knights, go to Camelot to rejoin the continuation of the king Arthur. Bohort, recognizable in a scar particular to the face, takes part in the majority of the conflicts engaged by the king, including the final battle against Claudas which releases the ground of his/her father. Bohort Essillié is itself the father of Lord Hélain the White and this paternity is the result of a trick of the girl of King Brandegoris: the latter had indeed managed to attract it in her bed by means of a magic ring. Later, Bohort introduces his/her son with the Roundtable.Bohort is famous like one of best of the Roundtable and acquires its true glory in the search of the Graal of which it appears worthy, with Galaad and Perceval, to penetrate the Mysteries. Several episodes illustrate its virtuous character. In one of them, a group of young women threatens to kill itself by throwing top out of a tower if he refuses to sleep with them. But Bohort refuses to break its vow of celibacy and when it fall from the tower, they prove to actually be demons which thought of misleading it while exploiting its compassion.
Another account shows us Bohort confronted with a dilemma: it must choose between helping his brother Lionel removed and whipped spines by brigands, or delivering a virgin about to be violated by a brutal knight. Bohort chooses to help the young girl, while requesting with enthusiasm for the safety of his/her brother. Shortly after Lionel escaped with its of torture and having persuaded that Bohort betrayed it, decides to be avenged by killing it with the combat. Bohort, as for him, gives up raising a weapon on his/her brother, was this to defend oneself. Another companion of the Roundtable, Lord Calogrenant and a monk hermit having tried to interpose, are killed one after the other by Lionel. But before this last does not manage to strike his/her brother, God makes emerge between the adversaries a column of fire to separate them, after which Bohort reconciled with Lionel can leave freely.
Later, Bohort, Galaad and Perceval discover the Holy Grail and transport it in Sarras (to be brought closer to Sarrasins), a mysterious island of Orient where Galaad and Perceval dies, Bohort is the only one of the three to return from there. As the remainder of its family, Bohort joined Lancelot in exile after the connection of this last with Guenièvre was revealed and helps to save the queen of roughing-hew. It becomes then one of the most listened advisers Lancelot in the war which opposes it to Arthur and recovers sovereignty on the old grounds of Claudas. Arthur and Gauvain having been forced to turn over in Brittany to fight malfaisant it usurping Mordred, Gauvain sends to Lancelot a message of call to the assistance. The men of Lancelot arrive in time to demolish the remainder of the rebellion led by wire of Mordred, Melehan and Melou. In the battle, Lionel is killed by Melehan. He is finally avenged by Bohort.
