Boeschepe

Boeschepe is a common French, located in the department of the Northern (59) and the area Nord-Pas-de-Calais.

Its inhabitants is called the boeschèpois.



Geography

Boeschèpe is located in the middle of the Mounts of Flanders, between Lille and Dunkirk, and near the Belgian border .

History

In March 1906, at the time of the inventories which followed the separation of the Church and the State, of the confrontations took place between the forces of the prefecture and the inhabitants of the village. On this occasion, a boeschèpois was killed inside the church. It is one of both died listed at the time of the inventories of 1906 (the second being André Régis, in Haute-Loire). The tomb of the victim, Gery Ghysel, is always visible in the cemetery.
