Boeing 717

The Boeing 717 or B 717 is an airliner built by the company Boeing (E. - U.). It was about the more small apparatus of its range. Launched in 1995 under the name of MANDELEVIUM 95 , it was the last vestige of the mark McDonnell Douglas, repurchased by Boeing in 1997.

On the whole, this apparatus made the object of 137 orders including 6 in 2001 and 8 in 2004, and it remained to deliver 35 planes in January 2005. Principal the competitor of the B 717 were Brazilian the Embraer 170, Canadian Bombardier CRJ and the Airbus A318 launched in 1999 of a capacity of 107 seats. Air Tran, specialist in air transport at low cost had already anticipated this decision by ordering 10 B 737 instead of B 717, which however had a low price of a third -- 40 million against 59 million -- but having a definitely higher transport capacity.

The stop of the production of B 717 financially results in a total provision of loads of an amount of 385 million US$ (295 million euros) distributed on 2006 and 2007. The production line of B 717 must be rocked on new the B 737 which aims the market of the planes from 100 to 215 seats.

The B717 last was delivered the May 23rd 2006 to AirTran Airways, which put an end to the line DC-9.
