The remainders of the feudal mound testify to the seniority of the village. Étymologiquement, Boeil ( Bolh in 1376) means " small ox " and Bezing ( Bezii , 1343) returns to the besiaü which was the community of neighbors, formerly in load of the management of the commune.

Culture and Inheritance
There was formerly an important Protestant community, and one called boeilhais them " Los huganautz of Bezing".The ground of Boeil was set up in baronnie in 1651. The barons de Boeil were lords of Baudreix, Beuste, Clarac, Lagos and barons de Coarraze.
The castle, vast square building, dominates part of the village. It was built at the beginning of the XIXe century by the family Bernadotte, the mother of the marshal being originating in Boeil. The great nephew of that which was king de Suède and of Norway under the name of Charles XIV Jean, is buried in Boeil.
The village counts two water mills along the channel of Baniou, works built in derivation of the Gave of Pau. The church Saint-Vincent-Deacon was built in 1871, with the site of the primitive church, destroyed at the time of a fire. The side entry preserves the Romance tympanum of origin (XIIe century), but of old frescos of XVe century, discovered during the rebuilding of the building, were unfortunately lost. The small church Saint-Bosoms (in the past of Bezing) became, after the Réforme, a Protestant temple.
