Bobastro
the rupestral church Mozarab of Bobastro rear RTL Arabic ببشترو.
History.
Located at the north of the province of Malaga (Spain), where Omar Ben Hafsun had taken refuge fine of IXe century when he revolted against the emir of Cordoue.
The conversion of Ben Hafsun to Christianity explains the construction of this church, probably during the first years of Xe century.
Description .
Cut in a sandy rock, there remains the primitive structure of the church with three naves separated by horseshoe arcs, the transept, and a bedside of three apses, the power station of plan out of horseshoe, the side ones have a plan carré.
Perfectly directed towards the East, it presents an approximate length of 16 m 50 length by 10 m 30 meters broad.
In the zone remain of the remainders of other constructions belonging to the population having found refuge.
Situation.
The access to the site is done since the road which goes from Álora to Ardales, 2 km in the north of El Chorro and from the southern part since the Procession of Gaitanes.
Since this point, a tarred track goes up to the hill of Mow Mesas de Villaverde, and with half way the pedestrian access point is which joined the ruins of Bobastro.
With the top of the hill one enjoys good sights on the environment and one a little higher sees a stopping, in which one pumps water the night to obtain electricity during the day.
