Bob Pit

Bob Pit , born the June 23rd 1927 with Chicago and deceased the September 23rd 1987, is perhaps most famous choreographer and Director of musical comedies.

He was born under the name of Robert Louis Fosse, to Chicago, wire of an actor of light comedy, he went up on the boards as of childhood but began his professional path as dancer. He appears in some films ( KIS me, Kate in 1953 of which he makes also choreography without appearing with the credits). He signs officially his first choreography with Broadway in 1954. Very influenced by Jerome Robbins, his choreographies are worth to him a great fame with Broadway. Those, métissées, baroques, daring and fluid, often mix the music Jazz with the Cancan, the Charleston, the walk or even with the older European dances.

it passes to the realization with Sweet Charity in 1968, remake musical of the Nuits of Cabiria of Federico Fellini.

In 1986 it puts in scene and choreography Big Deal , musical comedy which it even wrote to him.

Bob Fosse accepted many prices for its work, among which a Tony Award for Pippin , 8 Oscar for Cabaret and a Emmy Award for Liza with has Z . He is the first artist to receive his three great rewards the same year. He also obtained the Palme of Gold to Cannes in 1980 ( equal with Akira Kurosawa for Kagemusha )
