Bob James

Bob James is a clavierist, arranger and producer of Jazz American born the December 25th 1939 with Traverse City, in Michigan.

Extremely of two Grammy Awards, it is especially known near the general public for its piece " Angela" , which is the topic of the series Taxi, although its notoriety largely exceeds this recording. Indeed, Bob James belongs to this generation of artists Jazz fusion who provided the foundations of the Smooth jazz. However it made its beginnings as a musician of traditional Jazz, in particular at the sides of Sarah Vaughan.

Bob James then became musician of studio and producer for the prestigious label CTI. It recorded many albums in duet with emblematic artists of the smooth jazz such as the guitarist Earl Klugh or the saxophonist David Sanborn.

Some of its pieces (especially Take Me To The Fatty Tuesday and Nautilus ) form part samplés in the world of the Hip hop . Bob James collaborated besides with Guru and Common on Jazzmatazz, vol. 4: The Hip-Hop Messenger Jazz: Future Back To The .

Parallel to its career solo, he is also the founding member of the Supergroupe Fourplay.
