Bob De Moor

Bob de Moor (of its true name Robert Frans Marie De Moor ) is a Belgian draftsman born with Antwerp the December 20th 1925 and deceased the August 26th 1992 with Brussels. It drew many series of data base and was the right-hand man of Hergé in particular for several albums of Tintin.

Biography

After having followed the courses of the academy of the fine arts of Antwerp, its birthplace, Bob de Moor begins its career in a studio from cartoons, Afim.

In 1945, it draws Bart the Ship's boy in the magazine Kleine Zondagsvriend as well as stories putting in particular in scene the Marks inspector, professor Hobbel and his Sobbel assistant. End 1945 and in 1946, it appears in the synopsis of ABC and carries out many drawings of humor.

In 1947, it designs a first French album, the Mystery of the Old Castle-Extremely , scenarized by John van Looveren while continuing to provide many stories to the Flemish press ( Moneke and Johnekke , Janneke and Stanneke , Het Leven van J.B of the Room ). Bob de Moor founds Artec-Studio and still multiplies its creations in the Dutch-speaking magazines .

In 1949, Bob de Moor works for the magazine Kuifje , the Flemish equivalent of the Journal of Tintin by helping in particular his/her friend of childhood Willy Vandersteen and its many series, of which Bob and Bobette . The same year, Bob de Moor enters to the newspaper Tintin by initially illustrating the lion of Flandres then the Gars of Flandres . It also carries out the gags of Bouboule and Noiraud then of Mr Tric . Encouraged by Hergé, it conceives Barelli , a young dramatic actor, actor and detective and Cori the Ship's boy while illustrating Conrad Bold the .

The April 5th 1950, it is the entry in the Studios Hergé where he very quickly becomes first assistant, vacant place left by Edgar P. Jacobs. Contrary to this last, he will never ask Hergé to become co-signatory of Tintin. Until the death of the Master of the places, it supervises all the secondary drawings putting in Tintin scene and its friends (publicity, derivative products…). It also takes part in the animation of the character in the feature-length films the Temple of the Sun and Tintin and the Lake with the Sharks . Proof of complicity between the two men, Hergé and Bob de Moor make in 1956 on the occasion a crossing of the North Sea aboard cargo liner Reine Astrid to carry out preparatory sketches for the album Coke in Stock . It is not rare only of Moor serf himself of model, mimant the attitudes of the characters crunched by Hergé.

In 1959, of Moor creates humorous the Pirates Fresh water and famous starting from 1965 some gags of Balthazar , always in Tintin . In the middle of some short stories, it takes again in 1970 the series Lefranc of Jacques Martin the time of an episode with the Den of the Wolf . In 1979 and 1980, Bédéscope republishes seven of its stories under the title Uncle Zigomar .

The stories of Bob de Moor arrive to France only in 1976.

In the years 1980, of Moor always forms part of the Studios Hergé : it continued to collaborate in it very actively for the decorations of the adventures of Tintin since One went on the Moon , the recasting of the Black Île requested by the English editor, the merchandizing, publicity and the cartoons.

After the death of Hergé in 1983, it dreams to finish Tintin and Alph-Art that the Master left with the state of outline but Fanny, the widow of Georges Remi, decides after long hesitations to leave unfinished work. The Studios Hergé are dissouts the same year, but of Moor however continues to work on Tintin by supervising the realization of the Tintin fresco in the subway of Brussels, revealed in 1988.

In 1989, it finishes Mortimer against Mortimer , the second part of the the 3 Formulas of the professor Satō , remained unfinished with died of his/her large friend Edgar P. Jacobs. The same year, it is named artistic director with the editions of Lombard and also chairs the board of directors of the CBBD (Belgian Center of the cartoon) Brussels until its death the August 26th 1992.

His/her son Johan De Moor - helped of his/her brother Stephan- finishes his last album, of the series Cori the Ship's boy ( Dali Capitan ), who is published January 1993 by the editions Casterman.
