Bob Career
Bob Carrière (born on September 24th 1931 - died on October 8th, 2007 in the Yonne) was a electronic Engineer in and head of undertaking French.
He is the inventor of the Digicode of which he deposited the patent in 1970.
The idea came to him while looking at on television a cartoon from the adventures from Popeye: a chef, to put his beer at the shelter, locked his refrigerator thanks to a lock ordered by a telephone posed on the door, by composing a number on circular dial such as it existed about it in the years 1960.
Bob Carrière had the idea of an application of this system to the doors of buildings to return at home. To compose a code on a dial taking of time, Bob Career have the idea of the keys. At the time the telephones did not have keys. It thus took 12 keys (10 digits and 2 letters) on a keyboard of typewriter, and installed them within a framework out of wooden, by adding two small lamps, red and green
The patent was deposited by Bob Carrière in 1970 and the first digicodes were manufactured, at the rate of 3 to 4 per week, in the kitchen of a suburban house. An order of IBM of 150 digicodes (subject visiting the production site…) allowed to pass to an industrial phase.
Bob Carrière yielded its company in 1995 after having manufactured 300.000 digicodes.
Bob Carrière invented not only the process, but also the name of its invention: " digicode" , abbreviation of " digitalcode" it deposited the name with INPI, like " clécode" , without knowknowing that " digicode" was going to pass in the usual vocabulary.
Having developed its control device per keyboard, it is also at the origin of the first sensitive keys ordering, by simple support of the finger, the electric hotplates of our kitchens.
Bob Carrière, which is one of the initiators of the Forum of the electronics of Paris, was Acting general of the GFIE, the Grouping of the suppliers of the electronics industry.
Bob Career, also known like amateur of jazz, played until 2007 of the slide trombone in various formations.
