Blue Gourami

The communémant Trichogaster trichopterus called blue Gourami , is a fish of the family of Osphronemidés, endemic of the south-east of Asia. Generally blue sky with some tasks on the blanks, there exist various alternatives such as the " about it; cosby" presenting black marblings and l'" albinos" who presents of a gilded yellow color.

Easily maintainable out of aquarium, it is very widespread in the trade aquarists.

Characteristics

Description

Rather long Poisson (10-15cm), with dorsal fin and anal very developed. It comprises two very long filaments on the abdomen, furnished with olfactive and gustatory cells. The mouth directed upwards makes of it an alive fish in the top of the water level.

The " variety; classique" comprise a spot blue sunk on the medium of the blank like on caudal stalk. The " variety; coby" is not stained but is not marbled. Finally, the albino alternative yellow is gilded plain. In all the cases, the fins are mottled of white.

Sexual dimorphism

It is often rather difficult to distinguish the females from the males. The latter often have nevertheless a longer and pointed dorsal fin that of the females. They are also a little larger.

Behavior

Blue Gourami is a peaceful and very sharp fish in low age. The males cohabit badly between them and can sometimes pursue the females.
