Blue God

blue God is a Ballet in an act of Michel Fokine, music of Reynaldo Hahn, booklet of Jean Cocteau and Federigo de Madrozo, decorations and costumes of Leon Bakst.

Created on May 13rd 1912 by the Russian Ballets of Serge de Diaghilev with the Theater of Châtelet of Paris, it has as principal interpreters Vaslav Nijinski and Tamara Karsavina.

Fokine creates there entirely new movements, inspired of the traditional dances Indian Siam oises and . In spite of the beauty of the decorations and costumes and the admirable interpretation of Nijinski, the ballet is a failure: the music and the booklet are considered to be weak, and the obsolete inspiration orientalist. This failure will push Diaghilev besides to be separated temporarily from Fokine the following season.
