Bloop
The Bloop is the name given to a sound of ultra-low frequency detected by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) American on several occasions during the summer 1997. The origin of this sound remains unknown. A recording of Bloop is available on the NOAA website.
Analyzes
The sound, localized around (south-western coast of the South America), was detected by the autonomous network hydrophone of the equatorial Pacific Ocean, which uses the equipment of the United States Navy intended for the origin with the location of the Sous-marin S Soviet S.According to the description of the NOAA, the sound " go up quickly in frequency over approximately a minute and to a sufficient amplitude to be detected by several sensors on a range of more than 5000km". Although it recuts the audio profile of an alive creature, there is no known animal which could have produced this sound. If it were an animal, it would be enormous, larger than the Blue whale it even, according to scientists who studied the phenomenon.
There is no explanation currently on the origin of this sound which was not heard any more since 1997.
Possibilities
- It is possible to identify the animals according to the sound which they emit. The bloop, although it resembles the sound emitted by a blue whale, came from a distance of 4800 km. Some think that this sound could have been emitted by a whale and relates to this distance by hot marine currents.
-
postulates that this sound could be emitted by enormous and a still nondiscovered giant Calmar or Pieuvre, or a new fish species or whale even larger than the blue whale. these assumptions dispute, stressing that the known Céphalopode S do not have gas membranes necessary to produce this kind of sound, and that a Cétacé must make surface to breathe and should already have been located. Only the assumption of giant fish is still valid.
- Theoretically, Bloop could be produced by a machine. The frequency is possible but the sound volume would be more difficult to produce.
-
It is as possible as this sound was produced by a great number of creatures emitting a synchronized vibration.
-
an assumption Sismique seems not very probable considering the nature of the sound and the fact that he was repeated several times.
Remarkable coincidence
The point of origin of Bloop is very close to the fictitious city of R' lyeh in the news of H.P. Lovecraft the call of Cthulhu . Lovecraft had located R' lyeh in the southern Pacific Ocean. In the folklore lovecraftien, large old the Cthulhu was locked up in this mythical city and the “divinities” lovecraftiennes produced ultra-low frequencies to communicate.
