Summary

After thirty years of efforts, the former docker François Cardinaud became one of the most powerful men of the port of the La Rochelle. At the time of a running away of his Marthe wife with a young Mimile hooligan, it only meets mistaken and hostility. All the city is delighted to see ridiculed Cardinaud. Found Marthe, Cardinaud forgives him and becomes again the man fears by all. Henceforth he will think more of the happiness of his wife.
