Blokus
is a Board game created by Bernard Tavitian in 2000, published by Sekkoïa and distributed in France by Winning Moves.
For 2 to 4 players, as from 8 years for approximately 20 minutes.
General principle
The players have all a set of identical parts at the beginning of part. Each player in his turn places one of his parts on the apron by complying with the rules of installation. When more no player can pose part, the part is completed and the points are counted.
Rules of the game
Material
- 1 apron of play made up of 400 boxes (20x20)
- 4 sets of 21 parts 4 colors; each play is composed of 12 Pentamino S, 5 Tétromino S, 2 Triomino S, 1 domino and 1 simple square.
Installation
At the beginning, the apron is empty of any part. Each player receives a set of parts which it lays out in front of him as it wishes it. The players are placed around the table in the following order: blue, yellow, red, green Each one has in front of him a corner of the apron of play.
Goal of the play
To place the most parts possible. The parts remaining in hand at the end of the part will determine a negative score.
Unfolding
One plays officially according to the following order: blue, yellow, red, greenThe first player (blue) place one of his 21 parts on the apron. This first part must cover the box with angle of the plate which is in front of him. Yellow, Rouge then Vert make in the same way.
The parts posed thereafter must touch by at least an angle a of the same part color. But of the of the same parts color can never be touched by a side.
End of part and winner
As soon as a player cannot play any more of part, it gives up. It is possible that a player who can still place parts only plays several times of following the end of the part. When all the players gave up, the part is finished.
The winner is then that which has the score more raised. Each player marks:
- -1 point per square not posed (a pentamino which would remain in hand thus made lose 5 points)
- 15 points if one posed all his parts + 5 other points if the last part posed were the small square.
Alternatives
; Team game- With four players, one can play in association. The associated players place themselves face to face
; Fast contact
- Instead of posing its first part by recovering a box of corner, one can adopt an alternative which consists in covering a box placed at the fifth line and fifth column on the basis of the corner.

Blokus duet
Blokus duet is an adaptation of Blokus for two players. The parts are smaller and the apron measures only 196 boxes (14x14).The rules are identical to those of Blokus. However, the starting point of each player is placed as in the alternative " contact rapide" with 5 boxes of the corner in diagonal. The two players must thus begin each one on one of the two points predetermined on the plate of play. These two points are clearly indicated and face.
Blokus trigon
Blokus trigon takes again the same principle as Blokus but with formed parts from 1 to 6 adjacent equilateral triangles. Each player has 22 parts:
- 12 formed parts of 6 triangles
- 4 formed parts of 5 triangles
- 3 formed parts of 4 triangles
- 1 formed part of 3 triangles
- 1 formed part of 2 triangles
- 1 formed part of the triangle alone
The apron is a hexagon made up of 486 triangular boxes. Each with dimensions account 9 triangles. The starting points are located at the center of the fourth line of each of the six sides. There thus exist 6 points starting and each player can freely choose his starting point in his turn to enter concerned.
Blokus trigon is adapted more than its elder to the play with three players. Indeed, it is possible to eliminate a color and the line outside in order to not play qu'
