History

The publication of this block of stamps is not an event pain-killer at the time of its exit because the video game at this time is an activity which then never illustrated postage stamps in France. Series limited to 3 million specimens, the block is sold as of its exit the quintuple of its purchase price on EBay (basic price with 8.50€ on the world biddings whereas at the same time, the post office sells the block 2,65€ in its offices).

Many people complained about the absence about Sonic, which for a long time was in the surveys in competition with Mario and Mickey for the title of the most known character among the children.

The images were provided by the editors of plays and generally show the characters in their most recent appearance at the time of the publication of the trailer block 2005 and not such as they were during their first appearance. Thus, for Link, one sees off an illustration of The Legend Zelda: Twilight Princess instead of that of The Legend off Zelda for example.

The booklet

The block is accompanied by the publication of a booklet of 60 pages to the format 241 X 263 mm sold 15€ named “History of the video games” carried out by the studio the Agency . The person in charge of the edition is Davis Foubert, the director of creation Olivier Dureau, the artistic director Emmanuel Bagot and the author Daniel Ichbiah.

The booklet, prefaced by Ken Kutaragi, presented as the father of the PlayStation summarizes the history of the video game and those of the heroes present on the block, speaks about the economic issues and the esthetic and technological revolutions occurred in the world of the video game. This information nevertheless is condensed and appears often inaccurate. The booklet contains many illustrations of video games as several exclusive interviews with major actors of this field who are, in the order where they appear, Shigeru Miyamoto, Will Wright (the father of Sims), Yves Guillemot (founder of Ubisoft) and Benoît Sokal (also author of cartoons, at the origin of plays such as Syberia or Amerzone).
