Block

In the nautical field, a block is a device located on the Navire making it possible to block a Cordage.

There exist several types of blocks of which:

  • the block of Amarrage is generally used to block a Aussière fixed in addition at ground or on a pontoon. It very appears as one T applati and very widened. The rope is blocked on the block by carrying out a node around the branches of T: one carries out a tower died, then a half eight while finishing by a key half.
  • the block coincor is used to block a Drisse or a listening. He generally consists of 2 jaws in opposite swivelling on vertical axes between which passed the rope to block.
  • the block of listening is presented in the form of an asymmetrical block of mooring: it makes it possible to block the listening by making a simple tower dead. One of the branches of T is closer to the Embase what makes it possible to wedge the rope
naturally

The old equivalent of the block is the belaying pin : peg or of metal crossing a rack and being used to generally turn the current Manœuvres to the foot of the masts, but also in access. The use is similar.
