Blek the rat (of which the pseudonym takes as a starting point the character of cartoon Blek the rock) is a graffitor Pochoir ist French.

He starts to paint in 1981, initially with a friend under the collective name of Blek, then all alone. In 1992, it is condemned to a strong fine with the Magistrates' court for " degradation of goods belonging to autrui". Consequently, it does not paint directly any more on the walls, but on posters which it sticks then.

Its paintings generally represent anonymous or famous figures, of real size.

Today its work influences thousands of urban artists in the whole world and it is not surprising to find with London, New York City or Tokyo of the artists who say themselves to belong to his school. Among those the English artist Banksy: " With each time I paint something I discover that Blek the rat already did it simply 20 years front! ".
