Blandy-the-Turns is a common French, located in the department of Seine-et-Marne and the area Île-de-France.

Its inhabitants is called Blandynois.

Geography

The village is located on a headland which dominates the valley of the Ru of Ancoeur (or of Ancueil). It was organized around the castle-extremely which belonged to a defensive whole between royal field and champagne.

History

The name of the town of Blandy comes from Blandiacum and makes it possible to suppose that the city dates from the Gallo-Roman time. The history of Blandy is then associated with that of its castle. This last is mentioned for the first time in 1206, it belongs then to the Viscounts of Melun.

The city is primarily agricultural. Some industries developed with the wire of the centuries in particular the exploitation of the Argile and the grinding stone. At the 20th century, the commune takes the name of Blandy-the-Turns. The castle makes it possible to develop the Tourisme during.

The church Saint-Maurice is a historic building dating from. It was formerly surrounded by a cemetery. It is capped with a quadrangular bell-tower which surmounts a roof with four pinions. It measures 44m length on 13 broad.

  • medieval Castle composed of 5 turns and a keep connected to each other by an enclosing wall. It was built at the 13th century by the Viscount of Melun and was restored at the beginning of the Années 1990. Property of the general advice, it reopened on September 16th, 2007 after 2 years of work.

  • Crushing with apples: it was useful formerly as its name indicates it to crush fruits before carrying them to the Pressoir. The grinding stone is out of sandstone, it is located on an axis which was involved by a horse.
