Blancey
Blancey is a common French, located in the department of the Coast-with Or and the area Burgundy.
Geography
Blancey is a village of 72 inhabitants located in a valley at 17 km of Vitteaux.
History
Blancey was named before XIe Armantière century or Armandière. Around IXe century the village was plundered and shaved on several occasions during the Hungarian invasions (or of tribes coming from Hungary). Armantière remained one or two centuries uninhabited and it is towards end of XIe century that the village was gradually rebuilt. In XIIe century, the church was built. The village took the name of " then; BLANCEY" , because at the time WHITE was synonymous with " nouveau" even " renouveau". The site of the old village is more at the east of the current village.
