Blair House is the house where the presidential guests of the White House reside when they must remain with Washington, D.C, the capital of the the United States. The civic address of the residence is 1651-1653 Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest. It is located opposite the park Lafayette.

Blair House, built in 1824, is in the beginning the residence of Joseph Lovell, the first general surgeon ( General Surgeon ) of the the United States. Francis Preston Blair, an editor of newspapers who was also an influential adviser of the president Andrew Jackson, acquires of the house in 1836. After its death, it is bequeathed to her children. The Blair family is owner of the house for approximately a century.

During most of the presidency of Harry Truman, Blair House is used as residence to the president of the United States, as well as the White House, where are held important work then.

It is in Blair House that an attempted murder missed against President Truman takes place. Orchestrated on November 1st 1950 by the Porto Rican nationalists Griselio Torresola and Oscar Collazo, the attack costs the life an security agent.

In the years 1980, work of restoration takes place with Blair House, and one adds a new wing to the back of the residence.
