Synopsis
In the pilot, Krista Starr returns from the military service in Iraq where she learns that his/her twin brother, Zack, died in mysterious circumstances. Its investigation reveals that Zack was “familiar” - a kind of servant engaged under contract which agree to serve a Vampire in the hope that its “Master” will finally reward it with the eternal life. The search for Krista to find the murderer of its brother leads it soon to deal with Blade, just as with the murderer himself, Marcus Van Sciver, powerful vampire and a member of the House of Chthon. Struck by Krista, Marcus decides to transform it into vampire while making him drink its Sang. Krista is then approached by Blade, which injects the same serum to him that it uses to control its own instincts of vampire, and offers a chance to him to help it to avenge death for his/her brother and to fight Marcus and the house of Chthon. Both form a hesitant partnership. The remainder of the series follows the attempts at Krista to maintain its cover at the house of Chthon, fighting during all this time with its growing hostile nature, and the efforts of Marcus to develop a “vaccine” which will return the vampires immunized against all their traditional weaknesses: the sunlight, the money, the Ail, etc Cependant, late in the season, it is revealed that the true goal of Marcus is to create a virus which will target “the pure ones in particular”, the class of vampire of the judgment, from the impure ones. It unchains finally its weapon in the final one, surprisingly with the assistance of Blade.

Comments
Chronology of the series
The series occurs apparently after Blade: Trinity since certain events of films were mentioned in the pilot episode. At the end of Trinity, Blade uses Daystar, a biological weapon which targets and kills out of the vampires in particular. Apparently DayStar was not spread out quickly, because there are always houses of vampires in activity.
Criticisms
- the series is located at Detroit, in the Michigan, and the pilot includes major inaccuracies of this city: Strait was created in 1701, at the beginning of the 18th century, instead of the end of the XVIIIe century like Marcus says it. There is however the Joe Louis Arena, and a named suburban town Pontiac.
-
the effects of the money were contradicted on several occasions during the series. The money burns vampires with the contact, but in film and the series, some vampires regenerate these burns while the others have permanent scars.
-
If human can be cured vampirism completely, it was neglected by the series. In first film, Dr. Karen Jensen created a retrovirus which could cure no matter whom was bitten. In Blade: Trinity , Hannibal King mentions that he cured himself. However, this remedy is not mentioned in the series. It is supposed (although not explained) why Krista Starr could not be cured because it was not killed by the virus, it was killed by a fall of a roof after being infected.
-
In an episode of flashback, it was shown that Whistler met Blade the first time when he was child. This contradicted the explanation of Whistler in first film, namely that it had found Blade like a teenager of the street, nourishing homeless person.
Classification and cancellation
Although the first of the series attracted more than 2,5 million televiewers (what in made the series most looked in the history of Spike TV), it was also the cabled emission of the evening number 1 at the men of 18-34 and 18-49, this arriving in one year when the majority of the emissions were remarkable, but the series did not preserve its numbers. September 28th, 2006, Jill Wagner, the high-speed motorboat of Blade: The Series , announced that it had been informed that a second season ago. The following day, Spike TV announced in a press release that the series will not be any more.In reply to a letter in the review Wizard , the producer/scenario writer Geoff Johns, a reason of the cancellation of the series gives: “The network did not want to cancel it, I think just that Spike TV is a young network, and that was too expensive to do it, they were just not able to do it. ”
