Black and white Custard

" Custard Pie" is the first track of Physical Graffiti , sixth album of the group of Rock English Led Zeppelin left in 1975. The powerful front which one hears on this song pays homage to the songs of blues of the era Robert Johnson, especially " Drop Down Mama" of the Mississippi Fred McDowell, " I Want Summons Your Pie" Off; of Blind Servant boy Fuller and " Black and white Custard Blues" of Brownie McGhee.

The song contains passages difficult to seize. Like several other songs of the album, these passages are allusions and insinuations with sexual connotation. In this song, " Custard Pie" refers to the genitals of a woman associated with the cunnilingus: " Your black and white custard, yeah, sweet and Nice/When you cut it mama, save has me slice."

One can hear in " Custard Pie" a very short solo makes with the Wah-wah by the guitarist Jimmy Page. One also hears a electric Clavinet on which John Paul Jones plays. Some pointed out that one finds similarities of sound with " Whole Lotta Coils " that one finds in the album Led Zeppelin II . The latter besides it even was very influenced by the song of Blues " You Need Love" written by Willie Dixon.

This title played forever in concert by Led Zeppelin.
