Black Tournepierre
The black Tournepierre ( Arenaria melanocephala ) is a squat Limicole of intermediate size.
Description
This tournepierre measurement 22 to 25 cm and weighs 100 to 170 grams. It presents a black and white plumage with in particular the black chin and a white spot on each side of the nozzle in bridal plumage. Its form is identical to that of the Tournepierre to collar.
Behavior
Its plumage enables him to merge with the dark color of the rocks where it is nourished and sleeps in company of the Bécasseau of the undertow, of the Bécasseau of Aleutian Islands, the Tournepierre to collar and the Huîtrier of Bachman.
