Björn Gunnlaugsson
Björn Gunnlaugsson , born the September 25th 1788 and dead the March 17th 1876, was a Icelandic mathematician and cartographer. Between 1831 and 1848, at the request of the literary Company of Iceland, it drew up a topographic chart of the Iceland, in four sheets, on the scale 1:480 000. Published under the direction of Olaf Nikolas Olsen, with Copenhagen, and it was republished in a sheet on the scale 1:960 000 in 1849. For this work, Björn Gunnlaugsson accepted in 1846 the Ordre of Dannebrog, and thereafter the Légion of honor.
