Björn Dunkerbeck

Björn Dunkerbeck is a veliplanchist Dutch.

This athlete with the impressive gauge (1m91 for 96 kg) became today, with uncontested the Robby Naish, one of the great names of the windsurf as well as the sportsman more titrated of his sport.

Biography

He was born the July 16th 1969 with the Denmark. Of mother Dutchwoman and German father.

He begins out of World cup in 1987 and dominates the competitions almost at once and until the end of the Nineties, and this in all the disciplines (vague, slalom, race-racing). Since then, “the bear” (Björn, in Danish) remains a champion indépassable. Of a timid, modest naturalness even if the victory alone counts for this exaggerated candidate, the world of the board with veil, and Robby Naish at the head which was piqué with sharp by the talent and the class of this sportsman “come from the cold”, accepted only with difficulty a domination that much judged insolente, so much it was total.

With time, if Robby Naish remains the legendary hero of the board with veil, Björn Dunkerbeck became its uncontested champion about it, since never a sporting practice did not live such an influence. For much, this champion, with him all alone, professionnalisé a sport which was lived as apart from any competitive spirit. The industry of the board with veil has to follow the rigorous movement that it printed to him - resting on the serious one of Björn Dunkerbeck, its sailing ships and its shapor, Peter Thommen - to make pass a sport of the statute of leisure of beach to that of sport of high-level. Dunkerbeck, from now on father, has been withdrawn from the world of the competitions for a few years and offers today free meetings of navigations around the planet (The Search), without forgetting to return regularly at his place, on the island of Gran Canaria. The Dunkerbeck family counts a sister, Britt, which was several times world champion of windsurf at the time where his/her brother was the emperor.
