Bitard

The Bitards , brotherhood of inveterate revellers “the Order of Bitard” (L.S.T, Loué is it) who maintain with Poitiers quite alive traditions (the rally of the bitards and vestimentary traditions). Rabelais (1494-1553) having remained a long time in Poitiers allots the origin of it to Pantagruel. These habits seem to be in fact the oldest still perpetuated student's traditions.

Student's week

Each year, in spring, takes place one week festive always named 69e Student's Semaine. The town of Poitiers is then famous Bitardbourg .

It is punctuated all the week of aperitif S and festive activities the remainder of the day.

The 69e Student's Semaine was held from March 5th to 11th 2007, on the topic " In the Pantheon, the wine does not die jamais".

Hierarchy

The Order of Bitard (L.S.T) is directed by the Grand Maistre . It is composed of Commandeurs and Chevaliers (the dignitaries about Bitard (L.S.T) on the one hand, and of the beginners and chabousses on the other hand.

Estudiant pictave wishing to enter the Order of Bitard (L.S.T) starts as a beginner. After having proven reliable, it can then be declared suited and become dignitary.

Large Maistre is elected among the dignitaries at the time of the re-entry estudiante, it indicates among the dignitaries a council made up of 7 members:

  • Large Maistre

  • Large Bitardier: guard of Venerated and parking race noviciale
  • Precentor: named for the training of the loose-living women
  • Large Escriturier: person in charge of the mail and the files
  • Large Intendant: person in charge of logistics
  • Large Wine waiter: indicated to water the estudiants pictaves
  • Minister of Finance: responsible for the pecuniary aspect

The title of Thymballiest is used within the Order to nominate a person having been Grand Maistre or Large Bitardier. Old Large Maistre is called Grand Thymballiest and old Large Bitardier, Petit Thymballiest.

Vestimentary traditions

The bitards carry a Faluche, cap traditional of the students, but from which the code is different. The faluche bitarde is struck of a rafter. With this cap, the bitards associate a cape whose color is associated with their row.
