Emiland-Marie Gauthey: Civil engineer, born in 1732 in Chalon and died in Paris in 1806. His/her grandfather, Philibert Gauthey, had inherited two properties and grounds on Bissey, to which various acquisitions had been added. Gauthey resided at Bissey during the summer, dealing with its grape harvest. During the construction of the Channel of Charolais (current Channel of the Center), it establishes its general headquarter there. The elementary school and the main street bear its name.
