Birr ( Biorra in Irish) is a city of the Midlands located in the Comté of Offaly in Ireland.
Previously the city was called Parsonstown , according to the surname Parson, Birr is located at the confluence of the rivers Camcor and Little Brosna.
The city is old a market regional and a garrison town since the 17th century.
History
Saint Brendan founded in Birr a monastery known for the production of the hymns said of McRegol, named according to the name of the abbot directing the monastery at the end of the 8th century and now preserved at Bodleian Library with Oxford.Birr received the label Irish Heritage Town , for the development of the architectural heritage Géorgien.
