Birkenwald
Birkenwald is a common French, located in the department of the the Low-Rhine and the area Alsace.
Geography
Birkenwald is located at the foot of the the Vosges, 4 km of Singrist and of RN 4 which gives him access on the axis Strasbourg - Saverne. The commune is bordering on Dimbsthal and Salenthal in the North-East, of Allenwiller in the east, Wangenbourg-Engenthal in south-west and Hengwiller in the North-West. It includes/understands moreover variations with Ludwigshof and Melkerei.Nested in the small valley formed by Sommerau, river which are thrown in the Mossig with Romanswiller and is fed by the brooks Klingenhalt, Mittelbergbach and Grassbach. The village was formerly probably located more on the hillside as seems to attest it the presence of a vault devoted to the Virgin and gone back to 1751. The communal round of applause is mainly dominated by the forest in its southern part, other half is covered with meadows where some fruit trees still mark the presence of extensive orchards encircling the inhabited area.
The secondary road 229 cross-piece the village and ensures a local connection towards Dimbsthal on a side and Obersteigen of the other. The service road of Birkenwald in the public transport is ensured by the network of bus managed by the department of the Low-Rhine (network 67) on line 404.
