Bir Lahmar

Bir Lahmar is a city of the south of the Tunisia located between Médenine (15 kilometers in north) and Tataouine (30 kilometers in the south). It is surrounded by the mountains of the Djebel Dahar in the west and the Plaine Littoral E of the Djeffara in the east.

Attached to the Governorship of Tataouine, it constitutes a municipality of 8418 inhabitants.

As its name indicates it (“red well” in Arab), the city developed around a source of water, element invaluable in a desert area traditionally traversed by the Caravane S.
