Bionicle

The Bionicle are models Lego using parts (one cannot really speak about " briques" as for the old LEGO) resulting from the Lego Technic like certain new parts.

Principle

Bionicle means Biological Chroniques ( bio logical chro' nicle' ).

The toys of the Bionicle series are figurines various sizes (with equal size, it can have a rather variable number of parts there according to complexity; the price depends especially on the number of parts), representing characters or creatures of a universe equipped with built an enough history, which constituted an important innovation for Lego. Success is immediate, important enough for Lego then in financial problems. As of the first year, the characters were the subject of stories in the form of animations and cartoons, the whole being available on Internet site Bionicle.com. Thereafter, of the novels, of STRIP CARTOONS, films and the video games were produced.

Moreover, the multiple possibilities of assembly make it possible Lego to introduce other VIP not sold in the form of Jouets strictly speaking, but obtained by gathering the parts of several toys. From the point of view of the history, the characters obtained by combining the toys were often in the history even, lasting the first years, of physical fusions of the characters, which became rarer thereafter. The fans also imagined many characters, evoked in the novels without being illustrated, or new compared to the history (the majority are on the Brickshelf site). Some competitions for A-grade officials were organized by Lego, gaining them seeing their creations becoming characters of the official story.

Each year, a series of toys representing of new characters or former transferred characters is sold in store. Small objects to be collected are also sold out of packages filled randomly.

Laws of the fictitious universe

The characters of the history are Bionique S (the author employs itself the word Biomécanique, but the direction in is different), which means that some their internal bodies are out of organic materials, but that the outside of their body is made metallic materials or of equivalent hardness. The characters of this universe can thus sometimes detach certain parts of their body without damage. One is unaware of at which point they have the same needs as ordinary living beings: they are nourished differently, certain species sleep, and one is unaware of how they come in the world. In any case the family ties do not exist.

The universe of Bionicle does not obey the known scientific laws: the characters have superhuman capacities, the principal capacities of the central heroes being based on the Four elements (water, fire, ground, air), being supplemented of two additional elements, the stone and the Glace (though it is more of control about the cold than of the ice as a material). Of the secondary heroes have sometimes capacities resulting from another element: plasma, Revolved, Magnetism, Vegetation, its… the Light and the Ombre plays a particular part because the shade is the element of the principal enemy, while the light is the most powerful weapon against him.

The majority of the characters of this universe carry masks. Most powerful have masks equipped with powerful capacities. Matoran carry masks without capacities, but they cannot survive without these masks (in fact, Matoran can carry masks equipped with capacities, but not use them; in any case if Matoran is transformed into Toa, its mask is found equipped with capacities).

The characters can be male or female, but the distinction relates to only the behavior. Matoran of water are females, all other Matoran known are males.

Certain heroes accepted names having a direction in language Maori. This use was not appreciated, which forced Lego to re-elect many characters. The Tohunga became thus Matoran. However, some remain: Toa for example, means champion in language maori.

Evolution of the saga

Deliver I: Nui subdued

The first three years of the saga Bionicle (toys sold in 2001 to 2003) proceed on the island of Subdued Harmed. The inhabitants of this island, Matoran, have the greatest difficulties in survive since Makuta, the Master of the shades, transformed of Rahi (animals) powerful but peaceful into pitiless killers. One day finally, six containers unload on the island: legendary Toa, whose chiefs of the villages, the turaga, predicted the arrival, were able to bring back peace on the island. They are powerful warriors controlling the elements.

The second year tells the combat of Toa and the inhabitants against a new wave of monstrous creatures: swarms of Bohrok.

During the third year, Toa become Toa Nuva must first of all stop six Bohrok of elite, then to face the return of Makuta, and to allow the appearance of seventh Toa.

The arrival of Toa

Toa: Toa are 6 guards protecting the island from Subdued Harmed and its inhabitants called Matoran… These humanoïdes must beat Makuta to restore peace. As there actually exists of other Toa, first Toa are often called Toa Mata or Toa Olda. In general Toa of Matoran are transformed, but Toa Mata were created directly in this form.

Toa were the first Bionicle toys sold in store in " canisters".

Turaga: priests and chiefs of the villages of Matoran. They were themselves of Toa, they reveal it in new Toa before turning over to Metru-Harmed…

Turaga were the smallest Bionicle toys sold in store during the first year.

Matoran (or Tohunga): inhabitants of the island of Subdued Harmed. Toa swore to protect them, but they can be also defended in spite of their small size. Note: the name " Tohunga" is an abandoned word maori since the controversy on the use of this language.

During the first year, of Matoran comprising a minimum of parts was offered in the " Happy Meal " (the fans called these Matoran " McToran"). They were then the small toys sold in store.

Rahi: They were the first adversaries of Toa. There were swarms of Harm-Rowed (similar to our flies but in much larger), Muaka & Kane-Ra, two creatures protecting the cave from Makuta, Manas, the guards of Makuta, and others still. In fact they are not malicious, but are victims of the infected masks created by Makuta. Charged finding Toa, destroying the 6 large villages and with terrorizing Matoran… During the first year, the word " Rahi" indicate the creatures controlled by Makuta. There is of it only one low number of different. Rahi is in fact a generic term to indicate an animal in Matoran language. The following years, other Rahi appear.

the dangerous creatures fought by the heroes the first year are sold in large boxes. Other Rahi are alternative models to build with the parts of various toys.

Makuta: malefic creature able to infect the masks to transform animals without spite into soldiers with his service. When Toa faced it, it had the appearance of a block of tentacles blacks. It was overcome and thus incompetent to act some time.

Makuta appears in the cartoons in flash, but there does not exist toy the representative in 2001.

Kanohi: masks of capacities. There exist the large most powerful masks, and the noble masks, of less power. Each Kanohi of different form has a distinct capacity (invisibility, levitation, speed…). Toa unload on the island each one with a large different mask, and Turaga carry each one a noble different mask. Turaga recommend to Toa to find all the masks hidden on the island (one of each type for each Toa) before facing Makuta itself.

the masks were the objects to be collected of 2001. They were characterized by their form and their color. There were gilded masks, rare. A contest organized by LEGO comprised even of Kanohi plated gold like price with the winners.

Swarms of Bohrok

At the time of the year 2002, the composition of the " méchants" is aligned on that of the " gentils" : there is from now on for each of the six principal elements. They are sold in " canisters". The line of toys finds its structure which it will keep until 2007: each year, LEGO presents two series of six canisters (for each element), a series of six small " sets" , and some models sold in large boxes.

Bohrok

Bohrok are giant insects. Of form close to the beetles, they are however social insects. There exist six different types of Bohrok, for each element, but it is acted in fact of a true innumerable swarm. Each one of them had a shield equipped capacity specific. Bohrok were animated by objects called " Krana". When Toa overcame the Bahrag queens, Krana lost their capacities and Bohrok fell, inanimate. ----

Bohrok Goes

creatures escorting Bohrok, bringing to them of Krana of replacement. They are the small sets of the year 2002. ----

Nuparu and Boxor

a fighting vehicle manufactured starting from parts of Bohrok. Matoran made use of it to fight the latter, and even Bohrok-Kal. Nuparu is the creator of Boxor. ----

the exo-Toa

A strange armor which the six used Toa in their combat against the queens of the swarms of Bohrok, Cahdok and Gahdok. When Toa understand that the armours weaken their elementary capacities, they give up them. They have later the surprise to see them fighting as an autopilot against Bohrok-Kal, which decimate them…

It is learned later that Exo-Toa were manufactured by the Confrérie of Makuta and that they were included with the immense army of this one. The exo-Toa is sold without any Toa inside, but any of Toa of 2001 or 2002 (by withdrawing the light armor) can adapt to it. ----

Cahdok and Gahdok

they are Bahrag, queens of the swarms of Bohrok. Locked up in a solid cage of protodermis by Toa. ----

Toa Nuva

the advanced form of the Toa, they became " Toa Nuva" while being exposed to the energy protodermis after their battle against the Bahrag queens. They have new capacities, and the capacities of their masks can affect as well the carrier as other Toa in the vicinity. Toa Nuva take again the same parts as Toa, except for some improvements. They lay out in addition to one armor. Their weapons and their masks are different. ----

Krana

Krana are the brains of Bohrok. In fact they are the only alive parts while them, directing the mechanical body. Without Krana, Bohrok is inert. Matoran or same Toa becomes a servant of the nest if its Kanohi is replaced by Krana (though Toa have enough will to release itself some from themselves). This is why Krana can be ejected of its Bohrok, sacrificing a vehicle while trying to transform an enemy into servant of the swarm. There exist eight different forms of Krana, corresponding to various roles, of the chief to the scout. Toa were to capture Krana of each type and each color (i.e. pertaining to the six different sub-genera of Bohrok) to open the door leading to the Bahrag queens. Krana were the first elements to collect year 2002. There was one by color and form. ----

Kanohi Nuva

Kanohi Nuva of Kanohi are exposed to the energy protodermis. They can be used only by Toa Nuva. Toa Nuva can not only use the capacities of Kanohi Nuva for him, but also to extend them to the people in the vicinity which it wishes. Toa Nuva left to research these masks later, when the threat came from Bohrok-Kal. Kanohi Nuva were elements to be collected sold in end de' year 2003.

Bohrok-Kal and the mask of light

In 2003, the enemies sold in canisters are not the representatives of an army but of the creatures existing in only one specimen in the history. The year 2003 is also that of first film.

Bohrok-Kal: six Bohrok of elite, having capacities based on the physical phenomena: electricity, revolved… They tried to release the Bahrag queens, and for this reason deprived Toa of their elementary capacities. Toa managed to call upon their stolen capacities, and the excess of power put out of order the clean capacities of Bohrok-Kal, which destroyed them (Bohrok-Kal of gravity for example was aspired by a black hole). It was during this battle that the chief of Toa used the mask of time for the first and last time.

Bohrok-Kal disappointed much the fans, because they brought only little of innovations of form compared to Bohrok. On the other hand they were decorated in a more complicated way.

Krana-Kal: Krana-Kal have the same form that Krana, but are metal colors and one capacities much more powerful.

They are the elements to be collected sold with the beginning of the year.

Matoran improved: Matoran being illustrated in the engagements accepted new more glorious names and were physically reinforced.

Matoran improved were the small sets of 2003: they were larger all the same than those offered in Happy Meal. The new names were useful in fact to withdraw the words maori history. Certains Matoran was accompanied by Rahi servants.

Rahkshi: created by the gasoline even of Makuta, the supreme leader of the evil on Subdued Harmed. There is not that 6 on Mata Harmed, but well of others existed (in Metru Nui). They all are supposed destroyed.

Kraata: negligible portion of the gasoline of Makuta, being presented in the form of a slug. Kraata have various capacities according to their color, and that at various levels, their form being modified according to the level. For example Kraata of poison of level one does nothing but leave one matter net feeling reluctant but not poison on its passage, while on the level six it can at will return a broad portion of the ground which surrounds it toxic even for Toa Nuva. They are Kraata which infected the masks that carried Rahi at the time of the arrival of Toa. Makuta can create Rahkshi by using two of the same Kraata capacity and even level. A great number of Kraata is imprisoned in a cave on Mata Harmed.

Kraata constitute the second series of objects to collect year. They existed seven levels and six colors, but Internet site Bionicle.com specified that there existed many other types about it.

Makuta: the supreme leader of the evil, returns after having recovered his defeat vis-a-vis Toa. He seeks to prevent the arrival of Toa de Lumière, which could destroy it definitively.

Takanuva: Toa de Lumière, it has as a destiny to overcome Makuta. When the mask of Light was discovered, two Matoran, Takua and Jaller (and Pewku, domestic Rahi of Jaller), left to research Takanuva. But when Jaller was killed while being sacrificed to save Takua of Rahkshi, Takua understood that was with him to become this Toa. It put the mask and became Takanuva.

Takanuva is first Toa which was not sold in " canister" but out of box, because it was sold with a vehicle.

Other characters are not sold in store, but can be built by combining the precedents; they are also, in the history, the result of the fusion of the characters:

Toa Kaita : when the respective capacities of Toa (or Toa Nuva) are not enough, they can combine three by three, forming named creatures much more powerful Toa Kaita.
Bohrok, Bohrok-Kal, and Rahkshi Kaita: in the same way, their enemies can combine; in the history, only one of both Bohrok-Kal Kaita and Rahkshi Kaita appear.
Harmed Makuta: absent from the history, it resembles curiously has Bahrag.Il is composed of: Makuta, Jaller and Gukko, Takua and Pewku.
Takutanuva: when Takanuva faced Makuta, it was plunged with him in a basin of protodermis, and it left there only one creature, Takutanuva. Takutanuva opened the door which condemned the driving tunnel of Subdued Harmed Metru Nui and ressuscita Jaller. It was then crushed by the door. Takanuva could be brought back to the life thanks to its mask. Makuta was private body, but not destroyed.

Deliver II: Harmed Metru

The two following years of the saga Bionicle constitute immense a Flashback; wise Turaga tell their own adventures as Toa.

The fall of Harmed Metru

The year 2004 tells how old Toa, known as Toa Metru, defended Matoran at the time of the conspiracy of Makuta, combined with the hunters of shade, which ends in the fall of Metru Nui. From the point of view of the toys, Toa as from this year were articulated, therefore larger. In spite of that, they have the same size in the history (in the history, all Toa make 2 m 20).

Toa Metru: initially six Matoran, they were seen offering capacities of Toa by legendary Toa Lhikan. Maintaining their duty is to save Metru Nui.

They form the first series of canisters of the year.

Morbuzakh plants: gigantic plants multiplying very quickly, recovering soon in entirety the island of Harmed Metru. Destroyed by Toa Metru.

These creatures appear only in STRIP CARTOONS, and were not sold in store.

Rahkshi: created by the gasoline even of Makuta. Some were stored with the files of Metru-Harmed, but its destruction by Visorak releases them. All were destroyed at the time of a battle against the hunters of shade.

Although Rahkshi of a great number of varieties are represented in the novels and STRIP CARTOONS, it did not have there new toys.

Toa Lhikan and Kikanalo: most legendary of Toa and Rahi which is used to him at least as mounting (according to the note of the toy: the novels and STRIP CARTOONS never showed the two beings together). Lhikan sacrificed its own capacities to create those of Toa Metru. It sacrifices then its life to save the chief of Toa Metru vis-a-vis Makuta.

Turaga Dume and Nivawk: the Master of Harmed the Metru city and its bird of company. Dume was removed by Makuta, which was made pass for him and plunged Metru Nui in the dictatorship.

Turaga Dume resembles simple Matoran.

The Vahki: police of Harmed Metru, aggressive and unjust robots since Makuta replaced Turaga Dume. They have launchers of discs, and powerful weapons.

They form the second series of canisters of the year.

Matoran researchers of discs: combined of Toa to destroy Morbuzakh and to save the city. They are not very friendly.

They form the series of small sets of the year.

Hunters of the shade: two powerful creatures, members of a vaster organization mercenaries. They were engaged by Makuta to exterminate Toa. Makuta ends up killing them to increase its capacity. To note that Nidhiki, one of them, are a Toa traitor. The other, Krekka, are rough stupid.

Kanoka: discs of capacities. They can be used for forging masks equipped with capacities, or being used as combat weapons. Vakama, chief of Toa Metru, has a propelled launcher, just like the two hunters of the shade. The discs have a code with three digits: the first figure indicates the district of the city where the disc was manufactured (and qualities with the combat of the disc); the second indicates the type of being able of the disc (to reduce, téléporter…). The third indicates its level of being able, from 1 to 9,9 indicating the large discs. By combining the 6 large discs, one obtains the disc of the time, which makes it possible to forge Vahi, masks time.

There is in all 432 possible discs, but only 50 were produced. The disc of time was available only in promotional offers of Vahki.

Makuta: formerly protective of Matoran, he seeks to control them. For that, it succeeds in imprisoning them in spheres which weaken them, while itself is transformed into monster by absorbing the two hunters of shade which it engaged and the bird of company of Dume. In spite of its new power, he is imprisoned in a block of protodermis by the joined together capacity of the six Toa Metru. Before being imprisoned, Makuta reveals that far from being single, it has the many similar ones training with him the brotherhood of Makuta.

One obtains Makuta such as it is described in this saga by combining the two hunters of shade and Nivawk.

The great rescue

At the end of the history of the year 2004, Toa Metru discovered the island of Subdue-Harmed, where they evacuated some Matoran. During the year 2005, Toa come to release Matoran still captive with Metru Nui. But they discover a city devastated by hordes of monsters spiders, Visorak. Quickly they themselves are transformed into beings semi-hero semi-monsters. Some allies unite with them in a combat despaired vis-a-vis the hordes ordered by Titans faithful to Makuta.

From the point of view of the toys, the innovation is the introduction of constructions representing the places, and including small figurines representing the characters (the playsets ). In addition, the creatures have a whole a common topic (the gossamer-like aspect), which is also new.

Visorak:

they resemble giant spiders, with that close which they have four legs.

Toa Hordika: beings semi-hero semi-monsters, it of Toa Metru are transferred by the venom of Visorak. The venom of Visorak makes them crueler than their nature. Fortunately, Keetongu cures them. In a certain manner, Toa Hordika were not of Toa strictly speaking, because their masks do not have capacities.

Rahaga :

creatures which help Toa to control their capacities and not to sink in the evil. Their monstreux aspect is due to their change by Roodaka. They were formerly of Toa, Toa Hagah. They are the " small sets" year 2005.

Toa Hagah :

in a flashback in the middle of the history of 2005 (constituting a Put in abyme), two of Toa Hagah appear: they were the bodyguards of Makuta and its similar, but they cease serving them by discovering that they gather a army to subject Matoran. Only two Toa Hagah were sold in store, the others being left with the imagination of the fans.

Titans: this name recovers the toys representing of the characters with more large scales that Toa.

Roodaka :

Roodaka was the vice-reine of the horde of visorak. It was known to be the 1st female gangster but especially to have played a role of dimensioned hunters of the shade and that of the brotherhood of makuta. Indeed it was recruited and assigned with the row of the hunters of the shade. After Lariska convinced Nidhiki to join the hunters. Roodaka wanted to learn the techniques from combat at Nidhiki on the weaknesses of Toa. On the other hand it waited not a second to denounce the desire of this last for leaving the hunters of the shade, and Shadowed-One required of Roodaka to transform Nidhiki by transferring insectoïde to four legs. Later, it quittat the hunters of the shade and was this time recruited by the brotherhood of makuta. At the time of the rebellion of the toa hagah against the brotherhood, it is it which transformed them into " face of rahkshi" for their making paid their treason. But when its principal rival with the brotherhood (sidorak) took credit of her act and that it obtained the command of the visorak in its place, was too much, she started to plot against this last to release makuta, already seeing itself reigning on the matoran with its with dimensions. She was killed at the time of the attack of the toa hordika with colized of metru-harmed, by the union of the elementary capacities of the toa, however that produced the release of makuta.

Roodaka has powerful a kodan and is famous for its character of " woman fatale". Its determination and its thirst for being able in surely did one of largest enemy of Subdued Harmed and of its guards.

Sidorak :

sidorak is the sovereign of the visorak, it led and gained innumerable battles to the profit of the brotherhood. According to what one knows of him, it would be originating in the same island that krekka and are species, however, it was not q' a minor power on its island, but he is quickly assembled in rank by taking credit of the victories of his subordinates, and if one of between-them made mine complain some, he made sure of of débarasser. He would even have betrays the chief of the clan of his island to deliver it to the brotherhood makuta so that this one transforms it by transferring Vaporak. This direction of treason attracted the brotherhood, and very quickly did of them one of its prouder lieutenant. Often in competition with roodaka, it took even credit of the idea to transform the toa hagah into semi-turaga, semi-rahkshi, whereas all work had been imagined and carried out by roodaka. This act to him been worth an enormous promotion within the brotherhood: high command of the horde of visorak. roodaka as for it, had obtained only the second place of viceroy to have transformed the toa. Later, sidorak will be killed at the end of a combat violate with keetongu.

Sidorak uses Rothuka discs of tender. Whoever is touched by one of its discs is constrained to obey to him. It also has a retractable blade with which it controls the horde of a firm hand. This blade draws from length and powerful beams rougeoyants and destructors.

Keetongu :

Keetongu is regarded as most formidable of the creatures, it is an expert as regards venoms and poisons. During years the rahi of its species as Tahtorak were tracked and killed by the horde which Sidorak controlled. Rahaga came on Metru Nui its research, but according to them he was not seen since mists of time, which lets doubt its existence. But from now on Keetongu is not any more one legend. During the invasion of the visorak it agreed to join the toa hordika to save vakama. it destroyed sidorak and returned their appearance to the toa metru. Just after the migration of the matoran worms Subdued Harmed and the release of Makuta, keetongu which had remained in the city with Rahaga, had detected Makuta with broad Ga-Metru and the two powers were delivered in a thankless struggle. In the long term, Makuta carried it. However keetongu was always alive but it had left in order to help of other islands in danger, this is why it was not with turaga Dume and the rahaga with the return of the matoran to Metru Nui.

Keetongu uses a sharp point, as well as a whirling shield. Its only optical body is regarded as " the eye of the sagesse".

Rhotuka :

Rhotuka are propellers carrying the capacity of the launcher. Toa Hordika use them as well as Visorak. Objects to collect year, Rhotuka are of number very fault compared to the preceding collectionnables objects: only the color varies.

Temporal trap

The last novel of the year 2005 constitutes a history with share: Vakama, Toa of fire, turns over to Metru Nui to recover Vahi, the mask of Time. But Makuta, released by Roodaka, plunges it in an illusion; Vakama believes a few times that Makuta used Vahi to change the past, and that it is not any more one Toa. But seeing the inconsistency of this false reality, it breaks the illusion. Vakama is then confronted with Makuta. Keetongu is wounded while trying to help it. But Makuta and Vakama are obliged to help vis-a-vis the hunters of shade which attack them. Indeed, their chief is furious unexplained death of his two agents (absorptive by Makuta). Finally the hunters of shade are constrained with the escape, but their chief declares the war with Makuta and his similar. Makuta lets Vakama leave with Vahi, Toa having threatened to destroy the mask if necessary (what would cause the destruction of the universe).

Hunters of the shade: in the novel, the hunters of the shade which appear are: their chief, " The Shadowed One" ; its Sentrakh bodyguard; a monster able to make age any object instantaneously, Voporak (Makuta sacrificed an army of Rahkshi to neutralize it); Lariska and Triglax.

LEGO provides the instructions of assembly to assemble " The Shadowed One" (by combining Roodaka and Keetongu), Sentrakh (by combining Sidorak and Keetongu) and Voporak (by combining Roodaka, Sidorak and Keetongu). The others are left with the imagination of the fans.

Krakua: in an unspecified future, Krakua is the guard of an island. Having the mask of time in the hands, Vakama could communicate with him. Krakua affirmed to him that if it failed in its recovery of Vahi, itself would never exist. But he insisted that Vakama is ready to destroy the mask if it were the only means to prevent Makuta from seizing some.

Krakua is a just model of fan to the official story.

Deliver III: The Mask of Life

Voya-harmed

The year 2006 constitutes the end of the flashback and brings back to the history present; Toa (Toa Nuva and Takanuva) brought back Matoran to Metru Nui to rebuild the lost city such a long time ago. But Turaga Dume, which had remained, teaches them that they must now go to seek the mask of Life (or Ignika) on the island of Voya Nui to save the divine spirit Mata Harmed, without which the universe will be destroyed.

But the island is under the control of Piraka, of rough usurping the identity of Toa. After the arrival of Piraka, the island (already a dangerous place) became a hell. Two powerful guards took care on the island: Axonn, carrying the Mask of the Truth, and Brutaka, carrying the Mask of the Dimensional Doors. Axonn engages in the fight against Piraka, but his/her best friend, Brutaka, line up at the sides of the Toa forgeries.

Refusing to obey the orders of the Toa forgeries, Matorans are poisoned by a virus called Antidermis. They are then " zombifiés" and are attached to tiring and difficult activities. Six Matorans leave healthy and safe the raids in the cities: Balta, Piruk, Garan, Dalu, Velika and Kazi, known as " the team of the resistance of Voya Nui".

Piraka are on Voya Nui only to steal Kanohi Ignika, the Mask of Life. This mask being essential to Turaga to save the universe, Toa Nuva unload in their turn on the island to seek it. But they are exceeded by the capacities of Piraka and Brutaka. Six Matoran come to their help: Jaller, Hahli, Matoro, Kongu, Nuparu and Hewkii. But when they unload on the island, a gust of energy of the red star (the star which provides the most information to the Astrologue S of the Bionicle universe, and in this universe astrology is a serious science) transforms them into Toa. They baptize Toa Inika .

From a point of view of the toys, the major innovation of the year 2006 is the use of luminous elements. The eyes of Piraka can be lit, and them weapons of Inika flicker. From the point of view of the history, the malicious ones in " canisters" for the first time are equipped with six distinct personalities (precedents being only obeying puppets).

Piraka: six old hunters of shade, they desert after having learned death from Makuta. They explore its reference mark and discover the lance of fusion. Used on only one person, it creates a double of the target. Accidentally, Piraka is touched, and seventh Piraka is created, Vezon. Piraka then decide to go to steal the mask of life on Voya Nui, without knowing too much how this idea their came (see the pargraphe Makuta below for the answer). Vezon betrays the group and leaves without the others. The six other Piraka unload then on Voya Nui and reduce the local population of Matoran in slavery. Although they are combined to seize the mask of life, Piraka are hated.

Resistance of Harmed Voya: six Matoran have escaped in Piraka and try to continue the combat against them.

Order of Subdued Harmed: two very powerful warriors were charged to defend the mask of life by a secret organization protecting the universe. But if Axonn is determined to make pay their crimes in Piraka, Brutaka decides to be combined with them to obtain the mask. They quickly engage in a combat without mercy one against the other. Axonn Brutaka terrace, and then a third member of the Order téléporte on Harmed Voya: Botar, that which tracks the traitors. It téléporte then Brutaka in the Pit, a prison which one never returns.

Botar is built by joining together the sets Axonn and Brutaka.

Toa Inika: Matoran worry about the disappearance of Toa Nuva. Turaga acknowledges to them that they left to seek the mask of life. Jaller gathers a team to come to them to assistance. After voyage perilous (during which they escape Karzahni, a being malefic which will probably remake to speak about him), they arrive at Voya Nui. But they are then struck by a flash come from the red star which transforms them into Toa. They are immediately defined as objectives to help Toa Nuva, to release the island and to find the mask of life.

Guards of the mask: the other characters appearing in the history of 2006 are all of the guards of the mask: Umbra, a biped whose capacities are based on the light. Irnakk, a creature resulting from the nightmares of Piraka (the capacity of the mask of life can materialize the creatures which one fears more). Protodax, of the viruses become giant by the capacity of the mask. The fusion of Piraka is a monster which was formed when Vezon used the capacity of the lance of fusion on two Piraka. Vezon and Fenrakk the Araignée are the ultimate guards, being in the room of the mask even. It is the mask which obliges them to cohabit. Lastly, Kardas, the dragon, is a monster into which Fenrakk was transformed when it was thorough in the lava by Toa Inika.

Umbra is sold in the form of an independent toy. Vezon and Fenrakk are sold in only one box. Irnakk is sold in a box including the parts to build three Piraka, more of the parts not being used but for this character; it thus resembles Piraka, but in more massive good. Protodax are built by combining the three other Piraka. The Kardas dragon is built by combining Fenrakk, Axonn and Brutaka. The fusion of Piraka is a creation of a fan, who claims parts of several different years to be built.

Zamor: the Zamor spheres are the ammunition of launchers available to Piraka and Inika (only those of Inika can draw several times from continuation). Their capacity depends on the creator. In the history, it was completely useless for Inika and Piraka to use these weapons the ones against the others since the ammunition of Piraka were the virus reducing in slavery, against which Inika were immunized. As for Inika, their ammunition were the antidote of the virus. Three specific spheres played a part in the history: two spheres of " flight of pouvoir" and a sphere of paralysation. The color of the sphere is not always connected to the capacity.

the spheres are sold with the figurines and out of packages, certain colors not being never with the figurines.

Makuta: Makuta had been crushed by the door of the tunnel connecting Mata Harmed Metru Nui. But it was only private body. It employed its telepathic capacities to attract with him Piraka. Those excavated its old cave, there discovered the lance of fusion (which created the seventh of them accidentally), and carried a crystal containing the Antidermis virus. In fact Makuta the virus was . It influenced the decisions of Piraka, pushing them with going to seek the mask of life (necessary to the plans of Makuta). Inika destroyed the portion of the virus present at Matoran slave, thus destroying a negligible share of the gasoline of Makuta. Axonn destroyed finally the contener storage of Antidermis. Jovan is built starting from parts of three of Toa Inika. (Hahli, Nuparu and Hewkii) employing only part of the parts, the figurine is not larger than Toa Inika.

Mahri-harmed

At the end of the history of 2006, Toa Inika seized the mask of Life, Matoran of the island were released and Brutaka was exiled in the " Gouffre". But the mask of Life starts from itself to plunge in the sea. Axonn opens in Toa Inika a passage to join the underwater city of Mahri-Harmed, while Toa Nuva leave for another mission and that Piraka ruminate their revenge.

When the mask arrives in the ocean, it draws the attention of six monsters suzerains of the watery funds, Barraki. The mask is found by Dekar, Matoran of Mahri-Harmed. Barraki seize the mask after having neutralized Brutaka, which had disappointed them like ally, and to have planned to destroy the city to arrive to their ends. But during this time, Toa Inika arrive.

From the point of view of the evolutions of the toys, it is into 2007 that the creatures composing of the teams of six are really differentiated (before, only some elements, as the weapons and the masks, varied; this time the structure is different). The luminous effects are on the other hand abandoned.

It is also the second time that all the characters adhere to the same decoration: in the 2005 all creatures had something of the spiders, into 2007 all have a marine aspect.

In 2007, " small sets" are reduced 4, because of the weak sales of the previous years.

Barraki: the word means " lord of guerre" in the Matoran language. They were indeed the conquerors then the tyrants of most of the universe, before being overcome (and their dispersed armies) by a coalition between Makuta (at the time benevolent) and Toa. Botar téléporta in the Pit. They became the Masters and constituted about it new armies, formed of marine creatures. Barraki are very intelligent, and manage to overcome their mutual hatred to pursue their goal of revenge against Toa and Makuta. They know that only the mask of life could make them able to breathe of the air again, and thus to leave sea-beds.

Night, a very strong and very stupid warrior, adopted Barraki, because it does not have nowhere elsewhere where to go.

The Pit: Formerly an underwater prison used by the Order of Subdued Harmed, the dome which protected the Pit was crushed at the time of Great Cataclysm (caused by Makuta) by the fall of Mahri Nui in the depths, thus leaving opportunity to condemned fled. But water around contained a mutagen agent which made it possible to the prisoners to breathe under water, preventing them from drowning. The prisoners have flee through water, except Barraki which did not have to fear anybody. Being unaware of these events, Botar continues to send in the Pit condemned, like Brutaka.

Matoran: Matoran of Mahri-Harmed avoided the changes and breathe thanks to bubbles of air. They domesticated creatures, Hydruka, which their get these bubbles. Defilak is the chief of Matoran of Mahri-Harmed, Dekar is one of the most courageous warriors.

Two Matoran and two Hydruka are sold out of separate boxes. Two other Matoran are sold in group with Karzhani.

Toa Mahri: when Toa Inika arrived under water, the Mask of Life transformed them into watery warriors. As Matoran of Mahri-Harmed transfer them to fight Barraki, they them donnère the name of their city.

The history is told in novels, data bases, and stories on line on the additional site of the official site, http://www.bioniclestory.com. It includes/understands the search of Toa Mahri, the adventures of Barraki, but also two intrigues parallel: the mission of Toa Nuva and the duel between Lesovikk and Karzhani. An intermediate chapter of the principal history makes it possible to the characters of the principal intrigue to play a part in the parallel intrigues. Lesovikk :

history: 100.000 years ago, a team of Toa whose name was forgotten, ammenait peace and justice in this world, to draw aside it from chaos.

Among them, Toa Lesovikk which joined the team of Toa 100.000 years before these events. But today, it does not have yet achieves its intended as Toa. It is currently in Mahri Nui, the underwater city. However, he is not prisoner of Barraki or any other threatening creature. He has a watery vehicle. Being a combination figurine/vehicle, Lesovikk is sold out of box and not in " canister".

Hydraxon :

Hydraxon is a member of the Ordre of Subdued Harmed and a formidable combatant, strongly armed. But he is unaware of all the search of Toa and takes them for criminals escaped as well as Barraki.

True Hydraxon was killed by Takadox. When Ignika plunged in Mahri Nui, Dekar which was the only non-malefic creature near the mask. To protect itself from Barraki, the mask gave to Dekar the body and the personality of Hydraxon.

Maxilos :

Formerly a powerful robot guard, Maxilos from now on is controlled by a given entity which forces it to attack Toa Mahri. Assisted by its named creature Spinax which helps it to track various energies, Maxilos uses a massive tool with double blades, like its rotating multi-launcher Cordak assembled on its shoulder in order to take the control of the Pit.

The entity which with taken possession of the body of Maxilos was identified as Makuta de Metru Nui. Indeed this last needed a very powerful body envelope to develop its return inatendu, and which announces one of large the reversal of situation of this year 2007.

Gadunka :

This powerful watery creature was just like Irnakk created by the mask of life such new sound its guard. With its jaws massive, its powerful claws, and its launcher of squids, it can face and overcome any team of Toa! The cranium of Gadunka is a color gradation which shines in the darkness and it has a launcher of squids improved!

Gadunka was in fact a creature of a tiny watery species which was increased by Ignika whereas it hid under this last. ----

Shades in the sky

The history of 2008 proceeds in an air environment. Toa Nuva make their return, largely transformed to be able to fly. They must fight anything than Makuta less.

One calls Phantoka (word Matoran meaning spirit of the air, and thus which can designate a flying combatant that it is malefic or benevolent) the first six toys sold in canisters in 2008. Three are of Toa Nuva (Kopaka, Lewa, Pohatu, respectively Toa of the ice, the air and the stone), the three others are of Makuta.

In first half of 2008, the sold toys include also six " small sets". The word " small set" becomes criticized because the toys increase of many parts, contain new parts, contrary to the previous years, and are included in boxes which are in fact of the counterparts in smaller of the canisters. Their price also approach of that of first Toa.

Two Titans also form part of the first wave of toys of 2008: Icarax, the new chief of the Brotherhood of Makuta, and mysterious Toa Ignika, assembled on a vehicle and bearing, as its name indicates it, the mask of life (Kanohi Ignika).
