Bing (celestial stem)

See also: Bing

Bing or ping (zh-Hant 丙, bǐng ) is the celestial third Tige sexagesimal Cycle Chinese.

It corresponds in the theory of the yin and yang to the Yáng and in the theory of the five elements to the element fire. It is also associated with the cardinal point southern. Because of the presence of two “legs” in the character, in the theory of the sexagesimal cycle representing the growth of the plants, the bing represents the sheets which germinate.

In Chinese and to a lesser extent in of Japanese, bing often refers to the third element of a series: the letter C , the note “assez-bien”, the idea of 3rd category… In Organic chemistry, it represents the Groupe propyl: Propane (zh-Hant 丙烷 bǐngwán ), Propanoic acid (zh-Hant 丙酸 bǐngsuān ), Propanol (zh-Hant 丙醇 bǐngchún ), etc

The years in bing are those of the Gregorian Calendrier finishing by 6: 1986, 1996, 2006, 2016, etc

In the Chinese sexagesimal cycle, the celestial stem bing can join the terrestrial branches yin , zi , xu , shen , wu and chen to form the combinations:

  • Bingyin (zh-Hant 丙寅) = 3
  • Bingzi (zh-Hant 丙子) = 13
  • Bingxu (zh-Hant 丙戌) = 23
  • Bingshen (zh-Hant 丙申) = 33
  • Bingwu (zh-Hant 丙午) = 43
  • Bingchen (zh-Hant 丙辰) = 53
