On the Instruments with simple sheer - Clarinet, Saxophone, etc -, the binding is a body being used to maintain the Anche on the nozzle, while leaving him freedom vibrate. One generally finds metal, leather bindings flexible, or out of plastic. Certain rigid bindings are genuine mechanisms of fastening. The terminology is associated with the cord still used in the realization of the sheer of Hautbois, or to bind the sheers on the German clarinets.
