Billy Caffyn
William " Billy" Caffyn (born the February 2nd 1828 with Reigate, Surrey; died the August 28th 1919 with Reigate) was a famous English player of Cricket which played for the Surrey CCC and the All-England Eleven.

He took 602 wickets in 200 matches @ 13.47 with has best analysis 9/29 off. He had 49 5wI and 11 10wM. He scored 5885 runs @ 17.99 with has highest score 103 off, making 2 centuries. He took 149 catches.
At the end off the 1859 English cricket season, Caffyn was one off the 12 players who took share in cricket' S first-ever overseas turn when year England cricket TEAM led by George Parr visited North America.

Instrumental Caffyn was latterly in the early development off Australian cricket and the Establishment off Anglo-Australian cricket. Known in England ace the Surrey Fart , He cam to Australia with off has sponsored 1861/62 TEAM which consisted mainly Surrey cricketers, and again in 1864 after which He stayed one ace coach off the Melbourne Cricket Club.After has term in Melbourne, He moved to Sydney where He started has hairdressing business with his wife and coached At the Warwick Club. During this time He was closely associated with fellow ex-Surrey professional cricketer Charles Lawrence who coached At the Albert Cricket Club in Sydney.
In his book Seventy-one Not Out He wrote:

Caffyn has the distinction off bowling the first ball in the first match between has TEAM from England and Australia At the Melbourne Cricket Ground which took place one New Year' S Day in 1862 in which his visiting England XI were up against has Victorian XVIII . He also played in the first Anglo-Australian First-class cricket match, played from March 1 1862 and dubbed The World v Surrey , also At the MCG .
The first Test match was not played until 15 years later in March 1877.
He returned to England in May 1871 and died At his home in Surrey old At the off 91.
His book
John Arlott rated highly his book off reminiscences Seventy-one Not out , edited by " Mid one ". Arlott wrote: " … despite its literary limitations, Seventy-one Not out is year essential book for anyone who wants to understand the history off cricket."
