Bill Walton
William Theodore Walton III , known under the name of Bill Walton (born the November 5th 1952 with San Diego in California) is a former American player of Basket-ball evolving/moving at the station of pivot, now reconverted as a sporting commentator.
Biography
Bill Walton evolved/moved at the university of UCLA of 1970 with 1974 gaining the championship NCAA in 1973. At the time of the finale vis-a-vis Memphis State, Walton returns 21 baskets out of 22 attempts. Its performance is regarded as one of best of the history of the university basketball.
It is selected in first position of the draft 1974 by the Portland Trail Blazers. Its impact within the club is immediate: the Blazers gain 11 matches moreover than the season précédente.
Bill Walton leads his team to the title NBA in 1977. The following year, the Blazers gain 50 of their the first 60 matches before Walton does not suffer from a fracture to the foot, the first of long series which seriously will harm its career. In spite of the wound it is named MVP (better player of the regular season)
After several seasons in half-tone, among which it takes off the Blazers for the San Diego Clippers, its birthplace, it repurchases its contract in 1985 to start again its career. After unfruitful contacts with the Los Angeles Lakers, Walton joined the Boston Celtics, and gains the title in 1986, as a substitute of Larry Bird and Robert Parish, which is worth to him to be also named 6th man of the year. He is the only player in the history of the league to have cumulated this title with that of MVP during his career.
A new wound in 1986-87 pushes it to take its retirement after 10 matches. Walton tries nevertheless an unfruitful return to the competition in 1990, but is wounded before being able to play only one match.
He is introduced with the Hall off Famed in 1993. In 2003, it joined the American sporting chain ESPN as an analyst. His/her son, Luke, play Los Angeles Lakers since 2003.
