Clarence William Nelson known as Bill Nelson (born the September 29th 1942) is an American politician, democratic senator of the Florida to the Congrès of the United States since 2001. He was the second American member of Parliament to travel in space, on board the Space shuttle Columbia.
Biography
He is graduate of Yale in 1965, reserve officer of 1965 with 1971 (in active service of 1968 with 1970) and graduate in right of the Université of Virginia in 1968.
Of 1972 with 1979, this lawyer is appointed with the room of the representatives of Florida.
From 1979 with 1991, he is an elected official of Florida to the Chambre of the Representatives of the United States.
In 1990, it is presented to the democratic primary educations for the post of governor of Florida but is beaten by Lawton Chiles. Imprudently, Nelson had conducted campaign by pointing the old one and the health of Chiles, in a state at the height electorate of reprocessed and people agés.
Of 1995 with 2000, Nelson was the treasurer and the police chief with the insurances of Floride.
In 2000, Bill Nelson is elected senator de Floride with the Congrès of the United States beating the republican Bill McCollum. It succeeds the outgoing Republican senator Connie Mack.
Nelson was made the destroyer of oil drillings off the coasts of Florida.
Moderated democrat, it is re-elected in November 2006 with 60% of the voice compared with 38% with republican the Katherine Harris.
Space flight
From January 12th to 18th 1986, he is the second member of Parliament to travel in space on board the Columbia space shuttle on the flight Columbia (61-C), as a specialist in payload.
