Bill Graham

Political life
He is initially elected Député for the district of Rosedale (now Toronto-Center) at the time of the federal election of 1993. He was re-elected four times, that is to say in 1997, 2000, 2004 and 2006.
With the Parliament, Graham became a member and then the president of the Standing Committee on the external businesses and the international business. It was named Minister for the businesses external in the the Council of Ministers of Jean Chrétien in 2002. Bill Graham is one of the rare members of the Chrétien government to be taken back in these functions after the accession with the capacity of the new Prime Minister Paul Martin the December 12th 2003. In the cabinet according to the election of the Liberal party of Canada in 2004, Graham was seen appointed the post of minister of Defense. After the resignation of Paul Martin following the preserving victory of January 23rd, 2006, he is the chief by interim of the opposition. Following a recent resignation of Paul Martin as chief of the Liberal party of Canada, Bill Graham is also chief temporary of the party.
December 2nd, 2006, Stephan Dion is elected chief of the Liberal party, substitute thus Graham as a chief of the opposition. The February 22nd 2007, Graham announces that he will not be candidate with the next federal elections. It pourraît that the former Prime Minister for Ontario and candidate demolishes with the direction of the Liberal party, Bob Rae, that is to say candidate to obtain the liberal nomination in the district to succeed Graham.
The June 19th 2007, Graham announces that it leaves the political life.
