Bill Frist
William Harrison (Bill) Frist (born the February 22nd 1952 with Nashville) is a American Politician, member of the Republican party, senator of the United States of 1995 with 2007 and chief of the Republican majority to the senate of December 2002 at December 2006.
Cardiologist, considered surgeon, Bill Frist enter in policy at the time of the senatorial elections of 1994 under the colors of the Republican party. It demolishes its adversary, Jim Sasser, the outgoing Democratic senator of the Tennessee, with more than 11 points in advance. In 2000, it is re-elected with 66% of the votes.
Co-opted by George W. Bush, it succeeds the Trent Lott with the head of the republicans of the Senate in December 2002.
Politically located party on the right, its positions are distinct:
- it supports the liberalization of the health system,
- it is opposed to the Avortement. In 2003, it supported with Rick Santorum the adoption of the law prohibiting the technique of partial late abortion (partial-birth abortion). He is opposed to any federal help with the practice of the abortion.
