Giacomo Colosimo
Giacomo Colosimo , known as Big Jim , left his native Calabria for Chicago in the years 1890. It followed there initially the occupation of sweeping, but at the same time it was used by the Black Hand, the Italian Mafia, like executant. It rounded also its ends of the month by the flight and the procuring.

In 1902 he married Victoria Moresco, a procurer much older than him. Together they opened a closed Maison and quickly took the control of several others. Big Jim was quickly with the head of an empire of the Prostitution and traffic of human beings. In 1909, threatened by other gangsters, it called for the aid its nephew by alliance Johnny Torrio, which was with the head of the gang of the Five Points with Brooklyn. A little later the 3 men who had threatened it were found died.

Johnny Torrio settled in Chicago and started to work with his/her uncle. Big Jim opened a restaurant, Colosimo' S Cafe, which was used to him thereafter as general headquarter. In 1919, Al Capone, which before was based with New York, joined Chicago and was engaged as barman and bouncer with the Furnace Deuces, another establishment pertaining to Colosimo.

Came time from the Prohibition, and Torrio wanted to turn to the alcohol traffic. But Colosimo refused, preferring to concentrate on the prostitution. At the same time, it left his wife (aunt de Torrio) and Maria with a 19 year old singer, Dale Winter. Torrio had thus 2 reasons to eliminate its assistant, and the May 11th 1920 Big Jim Colosimo was cut down in his restaurant by Frankie Yale, which was never condemned, having intimidated the principal eyewitness. Torrio and Capone were also questioned by the police force but were not worried. -----
